Well, it was about as I expected, since I had a work-related conference this week at which we were served filet mignon at every meal, and dessert in addition (of course). I’m honestly not complaining about the filet mignon, and I guess I’m going to have weeks like this going forward. Anyway, I gained .8 lbs to land at 207.
More importantly, this week I dedicated myself seriously to doing Core, rather than Flex. What with my husband, and baby, and nursing, I think it will be easier to avoid the whole counting thing. And given I’m nursing, I want to make sure I’m eating enough to keep up my supply of milk. With Core, I will be sure to have enough, and be sure to have the right foods, too. Now the challenge is avoiding all of the non-Core foods, other than the 35 points/week.
We went to Trader Joe’s and to the farmer’s market, and stocked up on the good stuff. Pluots, sweet corn, carrots, squash and grapes. Also got some whole wheat pasta and some brown rice. Still need to do another big shop for more whole grains. Am planning to do that later today.
It’s such a strange time of my life, with so many choices. What kind of mother do I want to be? How important is my career to my life? Would I eventually like to live somewhere else? How do I structure my days to honor my values?
